It’s April 1945 and Hitler's Third Reich is crumbling--the Allies are approaching rapidly.  In a last ditch effort to destroy the enemies of the Fatherland, and possibly the entire world, a secret Nazi biological attack is unleashed.  The plan is conceived, developed and released by a very demented and brilliant scientist, Doctor Beckken, a scientist with no verifiable history.  Over 1000 “weather balloons” are sent aloft with a deadly man-made virus on-board each of them.

The mission: Kill as many humans as possible!

Now, in modern day Pine River, Colorado, one of the canisters containing the virus is innocently released.  After so many years waiting, the virus had mutated into something even the evil Doctor of inspiration had not anticipated.  Now the voracious virus infects its hosts; plant, animal--or human, at 100 percent effectiveness with a malady that enhances their core make-up; that what they truly are, into a ridiculously bizarre representation of what they were before they became infected; good or evil.  The rapid and horrific explosion of metamorphosis is shocking, even if it is sometimes a good thing, a needful thing.

The popular Sheriff of this beautiful town, William Torkelson, is rapidly thrust into action by the unusual behavior and the shocking murders of its citizens.  He is challenged at every stage, yet exhibits a strength and courage that brings him, his deputies and the "good" town's people together as a team.

Doctor Beckken returns to the story as the enigmatic Reverend DeSalucci, who suddenly appears as the hope of a town without spiritual guidance.  He and his disgustingly immoral assistant, Roscoe Hatfield, quickly and effectively rally the “devout” members of Pine River toward his mission.

The Reverend, with Hatfield’s assistance, rapidly set about exploiting the virus’ voracious hunger.  After making a covenant with his believers, and then drawing upon his devilish powers, DeSalucci transforms his flock into a rank possessing the tainted souls and absolute obedience needed.  Now, so conformed, the Reverend’s flock spreads throughout Pine River spreading His “word” in an orgy of decadence and horrific encounters with the “good” people of Pine River.

Even the adventurous boys; Tork, Charlie and Ernie are significantly thrust into the middle of DeSalucci’s plague--as they purposely become infected and join forces with the adults and their classmates, Katesha Harris and Suzy Twospirits, in a battle of good vs. evil.

The battle suddenly erupts as both sides viciously go at each other in a nighttime street battle that sometimes went hand-to-hand. The fighting is fierce and the casualties high on both sides.

Who wins?  The Good or the Evil?  Some say that Good always wins over Evil.
